The third general membership meeting of the Massachusetts Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association will be commence at 1 P.M. February 14th , 2016 at the Revere VFW.

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day afternoon and the Board invites you and your sweetheart to come and participate in a lively debate regarding the status of thoroughbred horse racing in the Commonwealth. As always the Board provides the coffee and the membership provide superb dishes and desserts using home made recipes. Don’t be bashful, make your favorite and bring it along.

It is a critical time for our membership and thoroughbred racing. The Board through membership and committees have been working diligently to address the new proposed changes to 205 CMR 149.01-149.04, the definitions to regulations regarding the conduct of racing associations and horsemen groups.

The Board, through corporate counsel, has initiated written correspondence and commentary to the Gaming Commission regarding specific omissions of key words and phrases. Minor changes to the proposed definition and regulations have dramatic effect and consequences.

The Gaming Commission will soon consider all comments and conduct public hearings to consider the same requiring your attendance and support.

As you may be aware the legislative committee of the MassTHA continues to draft changes necessary to the regulations and statutes controlling our industry in a committed quest to ensure a sustained race meeting in the Commonwealth for 2016 and 2017 at Brockton.
